An introduction to Shell Mold Casting

Using resin sand to make thin shell mold or shell core can significantly reduce the amount of sand used, and the resulting casting has a clear profile, smooth surface, accurate size, and can be processed without mechanical processing or only a small amount of processing. Therefore, Shell Mold Casting is especially suitable for the production of various alloy castings with large batch size, high dimensional accuracy requirement, thin wall and complex shape. But the expensive resin used in Shell Mold Casting, the high cost of precision machining and the pungent odor produced when poured, have somewhat limited the widespread use of the method. Resin sand thin shell core can be combined with ordinary sand mold or metal mold to make various castings.
