1、What is the High Chromium Cast Iron Casting?

High chromium cast iron is the abbreviation of high chromium white cast iron, which is a wear-resistant material with excellent performance and is particularly valued. It has much higher wear resistance than alloy steel, and much higher toughness and strength than ordinary white cast iron. At the same time, it also has good high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. In addition, it is easy to produce and has moderate cost, so it is known as one of the best anti-abrasive wear materials in contemporary times. High chromium cast iron generally refers to alloy white cast iron with a Cr content of 11-30% and a C content of 2.0-3.6%.

2. Performance characteristics of high chromium cast iron

1) Wear resistance of high chromium cast iron

High chromium cast iron has excellent wear resistance and is an excellent friction material. It can be widely used in the manufacture of mechanical parts, ships, oil fields and drilling and other fields. Its excellent wear resistance is mainly due to the large amount of chromium carbides in the internal microstructure. 2) Another important feature of high chromium cast iron is its excellent corrosion resistance.

It has excellent resistance to a variety of strong acids, strong alkalis and chloride ions, and is widely used in some chemical, petroleum and other fields. This is because the chromium element inside the high chromium cast iron can form a dense chromium oxide protective film, which effectively avoids the invasion of corrosive media.

3) High temperature performance of high chromium cast iron

High chromium cast iron also has outstanding high temperature performance. It can maintain high hardness and strength for a long time at high temperature without obvious softening, embrittlement and other phenomena. The microstructure of the chromium element changes at high temperature, forming a relatively complete chromium oxide protective film, which effectively protects the performance of the material.

5. Application fields of high chromium cast iron

1) It is widely used in mining, cement, electricity, road construction machinery, refractory materials, etc., and is commonly used in lining plates, hammer heads, and grinding ball materials. After the 1980s, it was more widely used in the production of shot blasting machine chambers and shot blasting machine blades and lining plates, which can effectively prevent high-speed and dense projectile beams from penetrating steel plate shells.

2) In agricultural machinery, high chromium cast iron materials can be used to produce agricultural machinery plowshares, etc.
