The silica sol process is a casting process with little or no cutting and is an excellent process in the foundry industry. Silica sol investment casting begins by creating a raw wax model, covering the wax model with plaster, and building up successive layers until a solid shell surrounds the wax model. Later, after melting the wax, the molten metal is poured into the mold, creating a perfect replica.
