What should be paid attention to in stainless steel precision casting?

2023-05-04

Precision casting is also called lost wax casting. Stainless steel precision castings are high-precision, complicated, and close to the middle and later stages of parts. They can be used directly without processing or with very little processing. Some investment casting (forging with a template) parts such as turbine engine blades, magnetic tiles, etc.

What are the precautions for sharing investment casting?

1. Because the metal mold and the core have no tolerance, in order to facilitate the removal of the casting and the drawing out of the mold, the forging inclination of the casting should be moderately larger than that of the stainless steel precision casting factory, generally 30%-50% larger.

2. In order to avoid the production of white iron after precision casting, in addition to taking effective technical measures, the thickness must be kept thin (some materials emphasize that when the thickness is about 15mm, the corners of the castings must be cast with metal molds. Use arcs.

3. The thickness of the inner cavity and inner rib of stainless steel precision casting should generally be 0.6-0.7 of the thickness of the connecting surface, otherwise, because the inner cavity (rib) cools slowly, it is most likely to crack at the junction of the inner and outer walls when the casting is folded.

4. Because the metal mold dissipates heat quickly, the minimum thickness of precision casting should be larger than that of sand casting, and the minimum thickness of various casting alloys and small castings of different sizes.

5. When suppressing the investment pattern, choose a profiled plate with a strong surface finish on the die, so the surface finish of the investment pattern is still relatively high. In addition, the shell is made of special heat-resistant adhesive and refractory insulation material, and the refractory paint is applied on the investment mold. The inner surface of the injection mold that is in contact with the molten metal has a high finish. Therefore, the surface finish of investment castings is higher than that of ordinary castings, generally up to Ra.1.6~3.2μm.
